 My oven will not come on. We have replaced the heating element and the thermostat and it still does not come on. I do not use the self-cleaning as I have heard it can mess it up. The range top works including the clock. The range/oven are on different circuit breakers and we even replaced the oven breaker...still not working. Any ideas?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for S156 models | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a manual 16000446 Jenn-Air Electric Range Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.comYou may have to join the site to get the manual but it is a good site. It could be the hi-limit thermostat (Item 5 in Section 8) is open. Remove power from the unit. Remove the wire from one side of the thermostat and measure across the thermostat with a meter. Should be 0 ohms. If you do not own a meter, I would suggest you purchase a one. You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy though it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves ordering one unnecessary part it has paid for itself and you end up owning a useful tool. Most places will not let you return electrical parts so if you order it, you own it. A couple things to watch when measuring ohms and continuity 1. Always remove power from the machine otherwise you could blow your meter. 2. Always disconnect at least one side of any device you are checking. This eliminates the possibility of measuring an alternate/parallel circuit path. 3. When checking for closed contacts and continuity use the lowest scale (Usually 200 ohms). Then try higher scales. This scale is 0 to 200 ohms so if the device you are measuring is 300 ohms this scale would show an open circuit which it is not, you are just measuring outside the scale's dynamic range. There is a good STICKY at the start of this forum about it's use. |

Thanks for your reply Denman however I am a bit of a newb here and I still have some questions. First, I think I found it but it is way back under the burners on the stove top. Do I need to tear the whole top off the thing to get to it. Second, if it is open then how do I close it, of do I just replace it. Thanks for your help.

I cannot be much help here as I have never pulled one of these apart.
Hopefully someone else will jump in who has.
Most of them are not resettable. If they are resettable, they usually have a red button. |
