I have a Maytag Dryer PYE4500AYW. It will not start and the light does not come on. I tested the thermal fuse with a multimeter and it looked liked it was fine, so then I took the wires off of it and taped them together to bypass it. I plugged the dryer back in and still nothing worked. I thought for sure it would be the thermal fuse.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG PYE4500AYW Dryer - Ele | AppliancePartsPros.comLooks like the wiring diagram included with the above is incorrect as it is for a gas unit. First thing to check is power to the unit. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! |

Thanks for responding. I made a mistake. I tested the the thermostat instead of the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is no good. I will order the replacement kit for it. What is the best way to replace this? Do I have to take the tumbler out to do it?
