bought a new home and turned the self cleaning oven feature on. the oven got so hot that it melted the edges of the surrounding cabinets. it is a jenn aire down draft
located in an island. any suggestions?

I would ignore Feisty's comments. You have a bad clean thermostat on the back wall of the oven. I would get a pro to look at it.

I personally think the advice richappy gave is the best possible advice for this oven. Could this be the perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black? i'm not seeing any indication that he's being childish - just trying to give the best advice possible. if thats childish then they really need to update the dictionary
