Hi there, I have a Kenmore Elite that will not allow me to select the first few washing modes. It will allow me to select "Rinse".

If I select "Rinse" or just hit "Start", then I can sometimes hear the water running. I do, however, get alternating blinking "Drying" light and "Delay 4h light".

If I hit "Cancel", then I do get all of the normal draining noises and the water drains out of the washer tub.

I have tried the diagnostic mode a few times and I have tried cycling the power from the breaker without avail.

Before I try replacing the electronic control board, I'd like to see if there were any other ideas on what could be going wrong.

Most likely the problem is a bad key pad which is a part of the control panel, but there is a small chance for the control board to be bad as well. I would replace the control panel first. If you need the correct part number, post the color of the control panel.

Thanks, it is a white dishwasher.

Is there any way to troubleshoot a key pad with a multimeter?

Such test is not very reliable but if you would like to do it - the instructions are attached to the reply.
