I'm trying to replace the handle on a Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The plastic handle includes a metal link and light spring that appear to go together only one way. But the metal bar should engage the door latch inside the door in a way that lifts the latch up to push free the metal clasp that holds the door shut. However, the metal link pivots so it is unable to supply the pressure needed to activate the latch.
What am I doing wrong?

I have a similar model with the same prob. (I took my control panel off to replace the fuse.) I can't figure out how the metal rod engages. Did you get yours resolved?
