On Thursday there was a power outage in our neighborhood that lasted 10 hours. Food and beverages in our Kelvinator were very cold, but gradually became warmer over time. After the power was restored the food in the freezer and refridgerator thawed out, instead of getting colder. Is it possible for a power surge after a power outage to damage the run capacitor/starter overload assembly? The capacitor is hot to the touch. I originally thought that it might be stuck in the refrost cycle.

Your particular model number is not showing up so a call into APPros to confirm you're getting the right parts may be necessary... Just by selecting a model that's close to yours in the search feature here the parts needed are the relay AP2112342 overload AP2142018 capacitor AP4315853... Usually these parts are the same for all the models in this line or series... Hopefully this is all that needs replacing; if the compressor starts then everything should be fine... If not, then it's time for a new compressor or a new fridge... kooler

I guess it's really a GE fridge sold under the Kelvinator name plate. It doesn't show up as you indicated as a Kelvinator. I disassembled the Starter Overload Assembly, last night. I left the compressor wiring harness intact. So I can remember the order that they attach to the assembly. There are two wires a red one and a white one, it looks like they just plug into the starter overload assembly; can they be pulled out of the old one and reinserted into the new one?
