We use our dishwasher almost daily, on the same cycle, and always rinse before loading. Yesterday, when we started it, there was an obvious groaning/buzzing sound that didn't occur throughout the entire cycle, but did happen for most of the wash cycle. I'm afraid to use it again for fear of causing major damage. One of the forum posts contained info on a buzzing Kenmore, but you needed the model number to provide accurate info, so I'm hoping you can offer a starting point as to where my husband might start his search for the problem.
:)thanking you in advance for your assistance, Juanita

Hi Juanita,

You have to check for a foreign objects inside the pump and/or for damaged chopper (#19 on the break down diagram).

Remove the vertical water tube as described in the Service manual (page 44).

Remove the outlet (#14 on the break down diagram), the wash impeller (#11 on the break down diagram), the four screws (#10 on the break down diagram) and the filter assembly (#9 on the break down diagram).

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU943PWKQ0

Hi I've got a similar problem. 18 month old dishwasher, fills, but then buzzing starts as soon as motor cuts in. I've checked / cleaned out the chopper, still buzzing. My next step I suppose is to remove the motor and inspect the impeller? If I cannot see any damage, is a new motor in my future?

Thanks!
