I have searched for this part (#3205014 - lint housing cover) and have been told many times it is no longer available and no one seems to have a substitute part. What do I do now? This cover holds the lint filter in place and with it broken it is snagging the clothes. Can I remove it and run the dryer without a lint filter? I don't want to start a fire. Does anyone know of a source that might have some very old parts?

For discontinued parts, check with your local county for appliance recycling businesses in your area. Here in Ventura County there are several: I know of one in Saticoy, CA: MARS Appliance Recycling 805/671-9394 which has a large "pick-a-part" (self-service) storage lot.
