The front left element on my Whirlpool Gold range (ceran glass cook top) has two heat settings on the dial, single and dual. The problem is that even on the single setting both elements heat up as if dual mode is selected.

I'm guessing the switch for dual / single mode is broken but am wondering if the element could be the cause. I'd ohm it out but haven't figured out how to get at the switches or the elements. :o

Any one know where I could find disassembly instructions and part numbers?

Thanks in advance

Most likely the problem is a bad switch. You can test the switch according to the wiring diagram. In order to access the switch remove the rear cover form the control panel.

- The part number for the dual switch is AP3182987
