Help. I have an Amana electric dryer model # ALE565SAW thatworks great except the heat turns off before the clothes are dry so we have to run it several times before our clothes are dry. I have checked the circuit breaker to make sure it is getting 220V, the vent is clear, I tried different cycles/settings and the heat turns off during all of them.

You said the heat turns off but does the dryer turn off prematurely?

I would try the following first unless to are positive that the vent system is OK.
Could be the outside vent louvers are not opening.
Undo the dryer from the exhaust
Run a load
If the load dries correctly then you have a vent problem.
Clean/check the vent system. Make sure the outside louvers open fully.

If you do not want lint in the house.
Take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust.
Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock.
Run a load.

Both the above will allow you to check the air flow and temp.
Also the above is NOT recommended for a gas dryer due to possible carbon monoxide problems.

If the unit is advancing to off in an auto mode, it could be that there is a problem with the wires going to the moisture sensor or the board itself.
Note: If the board sees an open circuit it thinks the clothes are dry and will advance the timer to off.
