I previously posted my problem under "30-yr old not agitating", but after following many suggestions, I am back to square uno. However, while hunting for solution, I did find a site that was very informative re: adjusting the drive lug on transmission pulley, and wanted to share it with all: Discuss-O-Mat Thread# 28069Unfortunately, my problem persists- bad tranny?? Tub fills, then next cycle (believe it should be agitation) the agitator spins with tub clockwise. Next cycle, tub spins ccw releasing water and soap, fills with clean rinse water briefly, and then next cycle tub and agitator rotate clockwise again for final spin. Clothes are still soggy with soap residue- no agitation throughout cycle. I tried adjusting drive lug in 5 or 6 different positions per above link, but it will always move up against lug on brake pulley. This machine is 30 yrs. old, and isn't the agitator supposed to rotate back and forth?

Pull the pulley off and remove the brake housing screws symetricaly. If there is limited tension on the brake housing while removing, you might have a busted brake spring.
