Hello all,
Kenmore 90 series (top loading) inner tub is not spinning...I replaced coupler and clutch but still no spin. I removed the agitator and the nut (spanner nut) when I put it in the spin cycle...I hold the tub so it does not spin (with little force) and I see the agitator tube working but the spin tube is not spinning or if it does spin...it spins without grabbing on to the tub...any suggestions? New spin tube?? The drive block and the tabs on the spin tube are both fine. What actualy powers the spin tube??...maybe a new gear case (transmission) or motor..or even a new spin tube??...i'm stuck!! HELP! Thanks

I would remove the pump and motor and turn the tranny coupler clockwise till the tranny engages spin. If very hard to turn you either have bad brake shoes, or something stuck in the tub.

I'll give turning the coupler a try shortly...as far as something stuck in the tub you mean between the inner and outer tub? I removed the inner tub and found nothing.
One more thing...if the coupler is hard to turn do I grind them down like I've been reading or replace you think?
Thanks for replying...

As bad as they are sticking, I would put new ones on and verify the brake housing is not pitted really bad, also, grease the brake shoe rollers.

Hi...
One more thing before I go ahead and purchase new brake shoes...with the washer in spin mode...I turned it upside down and held the inner tub and looked underneath the washer (with my sons help)...the clutch spins by the part above it (the metal disc shape) part does not spin unless I release presure from holding the tub...would you say this is related to the brakes as well?
