voila!!!! it was a bad thernistor.... areal PITA to change, but $30 DIY repair rather than calling out repair guy...these Bosch diswashers are kinda more trouble than they're worth in my opinion

indeed it was!...a pain to replace but cheaper than a new dishwasher.
