I have a roper refrigerator model number Rs22aqxgw02 and just received the replacement door gasket part number AP2994328. This is for the refigerator side door. The old gasket appears to be glued under a plastic lip that holds the small shelves on the door. I think I will have to cut the old gasket off to remove it, but how do I attach the new gasket? Do I have to glue it and if so what kind of glue should I use? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't ever recall seeing a fridge with a door gasket that is glued in but I've learned to never let anything surprise me with appliances... I would look closely at the new gasket you purchased for what portion of it that you can't see on the old one still on the door... This will give you an idea how it will mount on the door... Looking at the diagram for the fridge door on this site doesn't show any screws holding this gasket in place so it's most probably dart mounted which is simply pressed into a narrow slot on the door frame... Grab an upper corner of the old gasket by hand and give a good tug to pull it out of the slot... The glue you're seeing is probably what is holding this narrow slot in place on the door, usually plastic so don't use sharp tools to remove the gasket... If the new gasket is scrunched up and bent from shipment in a box stretch it out in a warm place (boiler room) or use a hair dryer to get it back to it's rectangular shape... Good luck and don't forget to salvage the magnet lengths out of the old gasket, they have a multitude of uses, ironically fridge door magnets for family photos, calendars, etc
