I've recently replaced this board on my ref and now it only runs when I set the dial of the freezer to 1. If it's other than 1, the compressor won't turn on. Is this a defective board? Please help.

hi rich.. the original problem was the clicking noises, i had to turn the evap fan manually for the compressor to turn on.. also, the water and ice dispenser stopped working.. now, after replacing the asm board, everything is working except for the dial setting..

On the installation instructions it tells you about cutting a jumper wire on some encoder models (yours is an encoder model). This is only done on certain models according to the serial number. If you have a model that the jumper should be cut and you don’t the refrigerator will not run, as it should. Look at the installations instructions to see if you need to cut the wire or not.

thanks for the reply applianceman.. but when i read the installation instructions, the prefix model for my ref wasn't listed as an encoded model, that's why i didn't cut the #2 pin..

I'll try it again when I get home and start cutting wires.. :)

Being an encode model means that you have turn know controls. Only cut the wires if you have one with the serial number prefixes listed on the installation instructions.

I am just trying to be clear.

Make sure all the connectors are in all the way on the motherboard and no pins left unplugged.
Seems like something you did caused these problems. Maybe a wire has come loose, or a connector unplugged.
