I built my home in 2003 with a wall oven. Two years ago my child was making french fries and it just died. It was just about 5 years old, and I don't really cook much. We have been using the toaster oven to cook with since then & we need real food! When I open the oven the light comes on, so power is good. There are no lights on the front electrical display (which includes clock and all the buttons).
This is crazy! Does anyone know what I can do?

Check to see if the breaker is half-tripped.

I did reset the circuit breaker, but maybe I'll give it another try tonight. If it is half-tripped, is that the same as all the way tripped? Would this be the cause if when I open the oven, the light still comes on?
It has a digital control panel and it seems to be totally dead. The clock and all oven controls will not work...

The breaker is a doubled breaker. On electric ranges and electric dryers, the circuits are split, with one half controlling the timers, clocke, lights, etc, and the other half controlling the heating elements. Commonly, half the breaker will trip, leaving some items operational, making us think there's nothing wrong with the power source. It's just the easiest place to start troubleshooting. If there is nothing wrong with your power source, I would suspect a dead control board.
