Successfully replaced the Icemaker with Part Number AP3182733. Everything worked fine from the get-go, ice reservoir was replenished over a couple of days, then, over the next several days began to notice the ice supply in the reservoir was dwindling.

Put my hand in the icemaker to see if there were cubes ready to fire, there were, but it was clear that the ice level was high, as if the water went into the tray once, froze up, and then water went in once again.

Pulled the unit out, let it defrost, put it back in, worked perfectly again but ended in the same result with a double-dose of water filling into the ice tray.

Pulling, defrosting and putting the unit back in seems futile at this point, looking for a revised repair path.

Sounds like a water supply problem.

Does the water dispenser work proper(how long does it take to fill an 8oz. glass of water(12 to 14 seconds is good).

Have you checked or replaced your water filter recently ?

You may have debris in the water valve screens and may need a fill valve.

Something you could try:

Remove the filter and let the unit run a few days and see if the situation improves.

If it does, you'd have a clogged filter or fill vave is restricted with debris.

If there is not much or any improvement, you'd have a water supply problem(plumbing) or a badly restricted fill valve.

Thanks for the response Joe. Filter was changed last week actually, and the water flow in filling a glass in well within the specs you shared. What's curious is that both times it operated flawlessly until the ice reservoir reached capacity.

The icemaker shouldn't eject cubes unless the infrared sensor advises that the ice level in the reservoir is low enough to allow for fresh cubes. It seems like somehow, when the reservoir is full, that something is misfiring within the logic because an extra cycle of water engages and subsequently makes too large a cubes to be expelled by the unit.

But this is pure speculation on my part, you can't be there watching the unit at all times to determine just what's going on...

You are pretty much on the nose, when it comes to the sensor system on your dispenser infra red circuit operation.

But,

The ice maker should not add water to the icemaker before it cycles, it should come to the rest position(3 o'clock) and set until the sensor sends a signal to dispense the cubes, at which time the ice maker cycles, until it comes to the rest position again.

I'm wanderring if , we have a water problem,but I would expect other complaint(s), and based on your statemant, I don't think so.

Or, a contact problem in the icemaker module,more likely, based on your statement.

I'm attaching the service manual for your dispenser assembly, You can review it and have a better idea of the operation and test circuits and opertion so, we can pin point where the problem could be, and go from there.
