The large burner on my GE Profile Stove Top when turned on in any position is stuck on High. Do I need to install a control switch or do I need to replace the burner?

The control switch is the part which has to be replaced.

- The part number for the dual burner control switch is AP2023824

- The part number for the 8" burner control switch is AP2631452

Good luck.
Gene.

I had the same problem. So I followed Gene's advice and replaced the switch. And that solved the problem, my front burner now works great. But unfortunately now the back burner won't go on, there is no heat. What did I screw up?

Zeeg,

Does it spark when you turn it "on"? What is the complete model number of the unit?

Gene,

I figured it out. I knocked one of the wires out of the other switch. I've got big hands.

Thanks for your help. I googled my problem and it took me to this thread. If not for you I'd still be eating cold soup. Well at least on one burner. :)

I'm glad you are not going to die hungry.
