I'm sorry if this has been covered but I have not found it in the threads.

First problem was the freezer was working but the refer was getting warm. Service man told me to clean the coil and we thought it fixed it,,,,, it did for about two weeks. Then the freezer and the refer started getting warm. I called out the repair man again. During the wait I decided to pull out the unit and remove the rear panel to give him a head start. Attempting to do some self diognistic I noted the compressor and the fan was running. 20min prior to the repair man arriving the freezer started refreezing partially thawed meat.
Repair man wasstumped and told me to get some thermometers to monitor to temp.

Three days of trending resulted these numbers.

Freezer = 19degF @ "7" (slight frost accumulated on the rear wall of the freezer)
Refer= 45-51degF @ "9"

I'm figuring some sort of defrost problem what should I do next?

Serial#.....Does not sound like your freezer fan is running, open the freezer door, hold in the door switch and listen for the fan, it should be running at a high speed with the temps you posted, if it is not running, or running very slow, your board may be bad, get me the serial# and I'll have more info for you, post the results of the fan

Your mainboard has failed, GE will repair for free 0-3 years old, $100 3-5 years old, and $300 5 years and older.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not terribly worried about warranty, I read it can be told of a units year by the serial number but I don't know where that information is found. Do you have any suggestions how much a board should cost or where to purchase. I live in OKC if it is of concern.

Actually I stand corrected, your refer is not in the board program, therefore the prices I told you are incorrect, as is the diagnosis. In your post you listed it as 1-5 years old, but it is 7 years old.

1-5 was mearly a guess...(until now).... However, it does have a main board. Do you feel the board could still be bad?
