My washer was thumping badly during the spin cycle. The inner basket was pretty loose in the tub and it didn't spin freely. The bearing in the tub had brown gunk (grease, rust & water?) coming out of it and sprayed all over the inside of the washer.

What is the equivalent model of the Duet washer which I can use to find the correct replacement parts? I'll need the outer rear tub with bearing and perhaps a new basket if the axle is scored? If I have to buy them from Sears I might as well get a brand new washer.

I got the tub and basket out without too much trouble (getting it all back together will be hard!), however I can't get the basket to come out of the tub bearing. Is there a trick, or is it fused in there?

Thanks

I usually support the tub with some 2X 4's, use a piece of wood on the spindle, and pound it out with a log splitter.

The bearing had disintegrated (one ball bearing was worn in half) and the spindle is rusty, scored and pitted. Looks like it needs a new tub and basket at a cost of over $900. I'll be buying a new machine after all.
