The igniter on my gas stove top will not stop sparking. I had to unplug the unit and now I have to use a match to light the burners. What could cause this?

Most likely the problem is a shorted or broken one of the ignition switches. A visual inspection can help to find a physically broken switch. If it's shorted, it has to be tested for continuity. - The ignition switch Part number: AP4101565

I have the opposite problem on a Magic Chef stobve (8114P627-60). The most used burner takes a bit longer to light the gas because of a irregular/weak spark (as compared to the others). How do I fix this, how do I get into/under the top burners?
Thanks, Macpete

Very likely the problem is a bad burner igniter.
The model number you posted is incorrect. Verify and repost it please.

You have to turn the burner CCW and pull it up. The igniter is attached to the burner and it comes as a part of the burner. - The burner assembly Part number: AP4394705

Thanks, Maytag Dam, I just got the new part, installed it and the spark is still not a regular spark as the other burners :( Is there a electronic control box of some kind that the two wires come from, could it be defective in some way? -Macpete

Swap the igniter wires between this and any other properly working burner close to that one. See how they work and post the results. Post the serial number of the range.

Did that and the igniter using the new wires worked correctly, this tells me that its not the igniter itself thats defective. Serial number is 13035335UY Thanks.
