The ice dispenser door on our refrigerator freezer will not close after dispensing ice which is causing frost to build up in the freezer. After removing the front panel of the dispenser, I found that the door is not closing because the pin is not attached to the dispenser back panel. Looking at the drawing of the ice dispenser in your website, part #1 is the part that I need. The ear or tang that the door pin fits into is broken off of the back panel. It appears that part #1 is not available. Can this part be bought or what are my options short of a new refrigerator? Thanks for any help.

Kitchen Aid KSRL25FRST04 15 mo old I have the exact same problem. I removed the door assembly and found the tab broken in the dispenser housing. My info said the same as the previous post ie no replacement available. I emailed customer service at Kitchen Aid and expect some sort of reply within 3 days. It is very poor to have a quality refrigerator last just over the warranty period and not be fixable. Will let you know.

Instead of waiting for an E-response on my problem I called the Kitchen Aid Website. They confirmed that the dispenser housing is not serviceable and the only way to fix is to replace door ($900+). I then got referred to Customer Service and repeated my story and they could not have been better. Even though the unit is slightly out of warranty, they agreed to fix it. They arranged for a local repair shop to confirm my diagnosis. They showed up today and confirmed that I needed a new door and they ordered it. They said when it shows up at the house, they will come to the house and replace. Can't beat that. :D It is not a good design obvously to be in a position of spending a lot of money +labor to take care of a problem with a 1/2 cent of plastic. Oh, well, I'm happy.

I had the flap door repaired a few months ago. They use a "kit" that includes a metal bridge on which the flap rotates. The problem is that the metal bridge is attached to the door with 2-sided tape The tape fails, as it did today The repair tech told me that they use the kit first before replacing the door, but that the same problem will reoccur, as the flap is attched to a plastic part.
