Several of the buttons on my GE Arctica control panel do not work. It looks like from the exploded diagram I need part callout 421. This is AppliancePartsPros no. AP3796807 This part is called a electronic service kit, and it looks like it replaces both the temp control board (behind the pushbuttons), and the main board. But I can't tell if it replaces the buttons. It looks like the right trim piece, but there is not a front view. Is this the part I need? For what it's worth, there is also a part callout 424, which is the current temp control board I have. I cannot troubleshoot any farther until I get the button problem resolved, as I can't change the freezer temp, nor can I put the unit in diagnostic mode. Steve B.

Hi Steve The part with number AP3796807 , called an electronic service kit, included a redesigned main control board and a redesigned user interface and this is a part which you need first. If you have more than this one problems with your fridge, then you can run any tests. Thanks Gene. That's what I suspected, but I couldn't find any documentation supporting that assumption. Does it use the same wiring harness, or is this part of the service kit? I'll find out soon, because the kit is being ordered right now!

Thanks, Gene for your advice. The electronics retrofit worked beautifully. While I had the unit down, I decided to check the FF damper assembly, and as I expected, the damper door was broken like so many others have reported. Some superglue and a little teflon spray had the damper working again, but I don't know how long this fix will last. As of a few minutes ago, both freezer and FF cabinets were spot-on their temp setpoints, so at least for now, everything is working great.

I just got done replacing the ice maker module on my GE side by side. The old unit didn't light up and i feared that it was probably damaged by the lightning storm that we had earlier. the new unit lights up, but I am still unable to make ice. is there anything else in the system that i need to check. If so, what is it, how do I check it, and where is it located.

Hi Slain, Did you mean green LED on the ice maker? Does it stay solid while the ice maker is on? What is the part number for the new ice maker? Gene.

Gene,
Yes the green LED remains lit while the ice maker is switched on, however, there is no ice produced. I don't know if any water is coming into the ice maker. The water dispenser on the door does dispense water though. The part number of the ice maker is WR30X10061. The original ice maker part number that was in the fridge was WR30X10012.

Slain, Where did you get this ice maker from? GE replaced this electronic ice maker with new electromechanical due to too many problems with the old one. The part number for new ice maker is WR30X10093 which is AppliancePartsPros.com item number AP4345120. Check for continuity the solenoid on the water inlet valve and if there is nothing wrong then you probably need another ice maker. Gene,
The breakout diagram shows the solenoid in the freezer door front. If that is truly where it is located, I have no idea how to gain access to it. Could you provide some guidance.
