Thermal fuse blown and dryer drive motor would not run to spin the dryer.
Replaced fuse and now it runs but my heating element seems out of control. It is on all the time...even if I select the "No Heat" cycle on the timer the element comes on. Removed the timer and element and went to U-FIX-IT and had them checked out...they said they were both good. Could the temp switch that can be set to LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH be the problem? There is only one spot around the timer setting area that will let the element go off! Seems like it is on high temp all the time.

Thanks for any info.

Hi Todd,

It is recommended by the manufacturer in case if the thermal fuse is open, it has to be replaced together with the cycling (operational) thermostat.

Also I would check if the heating element is not shorted on ground.

- The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP3131939

The thermal fuse that was blown was the little white plastic one that is located low on the left side when viewing the dryer from the back. About 4 months ago I did replace the one on the element housing and the cycling thermostat..they came as a set. U-FIX-IT check for a short to ground on the element and it was not shorted.

Yes, you are right and the cycling thermostat is located next to the thermal fuse and they must be replaced together.

So you are saying I need to replace the cycling thermostat that it right next to where I just replace the white plastic thermal fuse? It has a RED WIRE, RED with WHITE STRIPE WIRE, and 2 VIOLET WIRES.

yep The cycling thermostat will stick. Change it. Another thing to do is clean the dryer and make sure the vent is open. Remove the filter housing and clear the area around the blower wheel.
