We have a Kemore side by side refrigerator model#SR1087. We purchased it back in May 1991.

It appears the freezer door bottom hinge has broken. The door will not close completely without lifting it when closing. I'm thinking that the hinge must be broken. I went to SearsPartsDirect.com to order the part but Sears parts website came back with the message 'no repair parts are available for this model.' I can't find the model on this site either. What should I do? Is there another model that's similar and the parts are interchangable? My SR1087 needs help...Please?:)

SR1087 does not look as a valid Sears model number. Usually Sears model number consists of 10 to 12 numbers and no letters.

You have to order the bottom door hinge kit which included both cam risers.

- The part number for the bottom door hinge kit is AP2063068

Unload the door. Remove the screws holding the upper hinge and lift this hinge up to release it. Lift the door up to release it from the bottom hinge and put it aside. Replace the bottom hinge and assemble it in the reverse order.

Hi Gene, finished the project of replacing the bottom hinge on the freezer door. The part you recommended was perfect and everything went very well and the doors swings just like new. My family is happy they don't have to lift the door to close the freezer now.
1 - I took the top hinge off first.
2 - I took the grill off the bottom of the Frig
3 - I screwed the coupling for the water tube to the door and unscrewed
the single screw that held the water tube to the base of the Frig.
4 - I unscrewed the bottom screw to the hinge and thought the weight of
the door will keep me from properly unscrewing the last screw to the
hinge so i put 3 cans of chicken of the sea under the door to support
the weight while I unscrewed the top screw to the hinge.
5 - I placed the door on the counter top and completed the replacement.
6 - I then reversed the order of disassembly and all is well.

God Bless you and thanks very much!
