I have a Kitchen Aid Pro Line series electric range. Yesterday I discovered the oven does not go off when I press the off button on the keypad. I had to turn it off by setting the duration cook for one minute. all other buttons work and beep when I touch them . the off button does not beep or do anything. i turned off the main breaker and left the power off for 30 minutes. that did not help. Surface burners work fine. all other oven set functions work fine I just cant turn of the oven system using the off button. Thx for yr help

SER xt 2309341 Million, Did you ever notice or have and F2- or F6- code in the display ? All indications are that you have a loose connection from the touchpad to the control board or a bad touchpad assembly. Something you can try first: ***Turn off power to the range*** Access the control board assembly. Disconnect the touchpad ribbon from the control board. Clean the end of the ribbon with rubbing alcohol,as well as the connector on the control board, re insert and make sure it seated down into the ribbon connector on the control board, and test the buttons again. (see below) To remove the electronic oven control
(EOC) assembly on freestanding models:
a) Open the oven door, and remove the
screws from the bottom of the control
panel (see the photo in step 3b).
b) Remove the two cooktop trim screws.
c) Slide the cooktop trim back to expose
the end cap screw, and remove the
screws (1 on each side).
d) Perform steps 3c, 3d, and 3e on page 4-2 to remove the EOC assemblyTo remove the user interface:
a) Remove the electronic oven control
assembly (see steps 3 or 4).
b) Remove the four machine screws from
the EOC mounting brackets, and remove the user interface and its bracket.If cleaning and checking the touchpad ribbon and connector does not solve your problem, you'll need a touchpad assembly. (see below / click on number)Part number: AP3851195

I noticed a code in the display at power up but was not fast enough to copy it. will copy it next time I power off. Thanks

Thanks Joe. Just powered down and on again just noticed some codes.
there was 06 in red in the middle of the display and
AM71 u175 eekeo 068 at the bottom of the display in green. If this means anything please let me know. otherwise I'll start to disconnect and clean the connections as you suggested. Thanks again

AM 71 U 175 eekeo 068 in green at the bottom of the display. If this means anything to you please let me know.

cc. Million, No, those codes are engineering codes. Not what we're looking for. Well, Go ahead and clean that ribbon and connector, and let's hope that's it. Good luck, :) :) :)

To fill in on Joe's instructions on how to disassemble the oven in order to access the control panel, I think there is a step missing between a & b. Specifically, I had to remove the two oven side panels in order to access the cook top trim and the last two hidden screws that allow you to remove the control panel. My model number is a KERA807PSS00, though I would guess this would be the same for any KitchenAid model with the front control panel.
I'm quite disappointed that the EOC has not been recalled yet because I, too, had my off button stop working and had to throw my breaker in order to get it to shut off. In looking around the net for a solution to my problem, this seems like a common problem.
Although the process was more time consuming than I would have preferred, taking the greater part of an hour for me to disassemble and about the same to reassemble, it was do-able for the average homeowner such as myself. I only needed a phillips head screwdriver, though having my drill with the phillips head attachment helped in a few spots.
