I can't figure out how to remove the console from the dryer top so that I can replace the timer. I removed all the screws from the back and all the knobs. I also tried to remove the end caps but couldn't.

All you need to do is take a putty knife and push in one side at a time instill you can release the clip and lift the corner up. Then do the other side and the whole control panel will tilt up and back on its hinges. (unless you removed the screws to the hinges):) Good luck.

But there's a first step not described here, right? The sheet metal panel (through which the power cord passes) on the back of the console needs to be removed in order for the console to tip back freely. I have removed the four screws at the bottom and freed the two plastic clips above them, but something is still holding that panel on. What else to I need to do?
