Help !!

My Maytag Dryer, Model#LSG7806AAE is not getting hot. I took off the front panel and tried to run it. I see that the heating element gets hot and turns red. After a few seconds I hear a click and then it cools down again. I am unsure if I need to change the element or what other part is malfunctioning so that I can purchase and replace it ASAP.

I would suggest starting with these. Part number: AP3094251
Part number: AP3094251

They are a very common failure on gas dryers. You should be able to check them for continuity and one will have open windings. Also its much cheaper to buy both at the same time and replace. Good luck.

I would check 2 other things myself. Maytag high limit thermostats tend to go out often. It is the thermostat, that is mounted on the flame tube. I would unplug the dryer, and take the 2 wires off of the thermostat, and put the 2 terminal ends together, and then put tape around them to keep them together, and so the terminal ends don't hit metal, and then plug it in and give it a try. If the flame stays on, then replace the high limit thermostat. If not, the coils are most likely going to be your problem. If the flame does stay on DO NOT RUN THE DRYER THAT WAY!!!!!! That is a saftey thermostat. This is for testing reasons only!!! The other thing is pull the dryer away from the wall, and take the vent hose off, and see if the heat stays on. If so, you have a clogged vent hose. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I have exactly the same problem. Flame comes on for s short time, then goes out. Soon after it comes on again. Seem to cycle fine; except it does not get the dryer very hot before the flame goes out again. I replaced Coils (both,) replaced high limit thermostat (part 303395), replaced dryer cycling thermostat (part 3387134), and I have the same results. So I tried the test of connecting the 2 wires of the high limit thermostat together, and sure enough, the burner stays on and the dryer gets hotter. Sure points to the high limit thermostat! Except, I replaced the original one with a brand new one and get the same results.
So, I connected the wires to the old thermostat but not mounted to the flame tube. Now the flame stays one! So, my first question is does the high limit thermostat need to be attached to the flame tube? If so, then did I simply receive a faulty replacement thermostat? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks. Hal
