Sears washer will drain sometimes and then sometimes it won't. When it does not the cycle selector control can repositioned and it will drain, sometimes this has to be reset several times to get it to drain.

Since the machine seems to work mechanically, that suggests the problem is with the timer.

Replace it and see if that does not fix things.
