My 2 year old HSS25GFPJWW started clicking and not dispensing water or ice through the door a few days ago. When I attempt to dispense ice the green light dims when I depress the button, the ice cube trap door opens normaly but it sounds like the freezer motor/fan stops spinning as soon as the trap opens. I let the button go and after a few seconds the ice trap closes, the freezer motor/fan re-starts and the green button light shines bright and normal. I should also add that the ice maker is working normal.

When I attempt to dispense water, the green button light dims and after 5-10 seconds of depressing the trigger/arm, occasionaly water starts to dispense. The filter is new.

i have the Hotpoint model HSS25GFPJWW
after reading your solution I opened the panel on the back of the refrigerator and did find the mother board. when you try to get water there is a click noise but when you try to get ice there is no noise. so would it be safe to say this is the part i would have to replace? it has 5 or 6 bunches of wires that need to be unhooked? to make sure i have the correct part what is the part called and the number?

I also have a Hotpoint fridge, model HSS221FMB WW, Serial #HA244928 that just today stopped dispensing water. It is about 5 years old, and the ice has never really worked... What do you think the problem is? Also, the green light is fine no matter what option I choose (water, crushed, cubed). Thanks!!

Must be an insulation problem in the door. I have fought mine for 4 years. All I have to do is defrost the door and it works for about 2 hours. NO PARTS NEEDED. These things are JUNK.

I solved the problem with my Hotpoint HSS25GFTA, so I no longer have a problem with the water line freezing up. Anyone can do it. (I am a lady 82 years old.) First I opened the freezer side and put a heavy beach towel over the food in the freezer so that it would not be affected by what I did next. I then closed the freezer, and using a hair dryer applied some heat to the outside of the door in the area where the water comes out, both in the recess and around it. When the water began to come out, I then cut a piece of styrofoam to fit the area on the inside back of the water area. attached it with duct tape (what would we do without it), and lo, the water works fine now. Hope this helps you.
Sincerely, M. Clayton
