Serial Number MK4987554 Hello Group, My Whirlpool Electric Dry has broken it's belt. Seems simple enough for a "fix it" kind of girl that I am. Not however, if when you open it up there is no Idler Pulley like the part listed and the parts schematic (#53) doesn't show accurately what the part is supposed to look like. The belt tension-er (or is truly an Idler Pulley?) is simply a bare metal part that the belt glides over. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this as I ordered the part anyway. There is a space for another something next to the part that is already there so I am wondering if by chance this Appliance was a Monday or Friday kind of mishap. My concern that the new roller type will put too much tension on the belt as the angle seems quite different. The current tension part is only approximately 1.25 inches from the floor of the unit. Thank you for any help, Mommaski

Thank you for your response. I did find the Idler Pulley diagram on the other page. I also had felt that I had done the correct thing but having a little positive reinforcement has relieved any doubts. Regards, Mommaski

I had ordered my parts (Belt and Idler Pulley) for my Whirlpool dryer for this little fix and expected to see them by Monday of next week. They came the next day regular delivery! Not only have I saved hundreds of dollars repairing the dryer myself (even though I only use it to dry undies) I was not inconvenienced at all waiting for the parts to come. There was no having to return unneeded parts because of the Forum and Live Chat making sure that I got the correct items. I can't thank you enough for your professional service. In economic times such as ours we need to save what little we can to make ends meet. You have certainly done that for me. HA! Now to fix the cloths washer........ Thank you again, Mommaski
