I have a Maytag Performa oven that is ON even though all of the knobs are turned to "OFF". I had a guy come by and look at it. He "thinks" that it is the thermostat that needs to be replaced. I've already wasted shipping costs on the wrong thermostat and don't want to waste more money. Anyone know if this sounds right, or if there might be another solution? He keeps mentioning that there is no schematic, but I have no idea what this is...

According to the wiring diagram, the oven operates by the oven thermostat (#14 on the diagram). This thermostat has to be replaced in order to fix this problem. If you need the correct part number for the oven thermostat, post the serial number of the oven. Gene.

I got the model number but the correct serial number (at least the two first digits) is very important to find the correct replacement thermostat. It suppose to be on the same name plate.

Gene, the serial number is 14495212CJ. The appliance repair guy ordered a thermostat, but it was the incorrect one. I believe it was for a Series 16. I am assuming it should be a Series 14? Thanks again.
