I have seen posts similar to this but none exactly the same. My stop does not appear to be occurring midcycle. I base this on the fact that the DW was dry and the dishes appeared clean from the previous wash. (I am open to admitting these could both be bad assumptions though.) When the wife goes to start the next load the unit makes a low motor sounds (not strained or grinding & no water movement) for 10-15 seconds and then the water heater light turns on for a second or two and then everything stops. Nothing else will happen no matter what button you push. If you push a different cycle like Heavy, it just blinks several times and reverts back to Normal. From reading this forum, I have attempted a few basic checks. I shut the power down to reset the board. I checked the water float to make sure that it was free. I also saw a diagnotic suggestion to add 2" of water to the tub and see what would occur. I tried it and the symptoms now change slightly. The unit now sprays water and washes for 10-15 seconds, the water heater light comes on once and then the unit shuts down again. The Cancel/drain button doesn't work either so I now have 2" inches of stinky water to content with.

Seen this before? Any suggestions?

Most likely the problem is a bad control board (#11 on the break down diagram).

- The part number for the control board is AP3775964

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid dishwasher Model KUDI01TJWH0
