Hi everyone,

THe trouble we started having the last 2 weeks is that every 2 or 3 days my kenmore side by side model #58642 refrigerator/freezer shuts off. The only way we notice it is not running, is when we open the freezer and the ice cubes are starting to melt. When it first happend we pulled it out and cleaned out underneath and vacuumed everyhting, then I noticed a knob under the front:eek: , which now from reading here I believe is the defrost timer, I turned it past the dead spot and the refrigerator fans, compressor everything started working. Damn im a genius :D I thought..lol...But now every few days as I have said we have to reach under the front and turn the timer past its dead spot for the refrigerator to come back on, this has been going on for 2 weeks now.:( Any help on what the cause of this trouble would be is greatly appreciated..Matt

Most likely the problem is a bad defrost timer.

In order to provide the right part number for a new one we need the complete model number of the refrigerator. The model number you posted is incomplete.

Gene.
