My dishwasher was not drying properly so I purchased a new heating element from your store and installed it today. Unfortunately, it still does not dry my dishes so I'm assuming the problem was not with the heating element. Can you offer any troubleshooting advice?

Have you always had a drying problem?

Do you use rinse aid ?

Is your water temperature correct(minimum water temp 120 dgs in the tub ). I prefer a higher temp(130 to 140 dgs).

You could check the vent assembly for being stuck open(do you have steam from the vent during the wash cycle, There should be little or no steam at the vent until the dry cycle).

Do you know if the enhanced drying control assembly has been installed ?
Maytag part no. 12001719 (I believe it is a discontinued part), but you may want to check with Maytag/Whirlpool customer service, to see if there is still a program or part still available for your repair.:)

Hi Joe.
Thank you very much for your quick response. Here are a few answers to your questions....1. The drying problem began about two weeks agoa, 2. I do not use a rinse aid., 3.It looks like the vent may be stuck open....how can you tell? If so, how do you remove the vent part...no screws are noticeable. 4. I don't believe the enhanced drying feature is installed. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated....Many thanks!

Gee, If your drying performance has been OK all this time, I can only think of 1 of 2 things :

1) No power to the element from the control board broken wire or bad hi limit thermostat (not likely).

2) The wax motor on the vent has failed or the flapper has failed.
You can't access the flapper, the housing is part of the door liner
and sonic welded on.If the flapper is bad you will need a door liner
assembly.
The wax motor is the only repalceable part,and easy to access after
you remove the inner door liner from the outer door assembly.You can
test it with 120 volts to the terminals, and watch the plunger move or
test for resistance with a meter.

I hope it's a bad wax motor.:confused:

Ghafoor, The first thing we need is a model umber of the dishwasher. That way we can advise you properly and what other possible issues there may be. In most cases, you'll find the tech data sheet attached to the backside of the lower kickplate panel, or frame of the dishwasher. You can conduct the diagnostic codes and conduct the manual and automatic test modes and determine if the heater is or isn't working.
You also need to remember that the water temperature on the first fill of a wash cycle needs to be at least 120 dgrs.F. If the water temperature isn't hot enough at the start of the cycle, the heater cannot increase the temperature, within the allotted time, and can create an issue as you described.
