The machine agitates fine, drains and seems to spin okay. When you raise the lid on the washer the tub continues to spin. Does this mean I need to replace the basket drive assembly?
Thanks Hilt

When you open and close the lid can you hear the lid switch click? If not you probably need a new lid switch. I used to see these get stuck in the "on" position all the time. Part number: AP3094142

I can hear the switch click but I did not check it with a meter. Will do that to confirm if it is good or bad. Thank you for the quick response.

The switch is good. I still think the problem is in the basket drive assembly

Take a look at this diagram Drive replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LA7680XKW2 | AppliancePartsPros.com

If the switch is OK, then you should take a look at the spin cam bar (part no. 12). If its in the out position, that would be causing the washer to spin (Out position is when looking at the part from the back of the washer, the arm is pulled all the way out and has pushed the clutch shaft up) Also the Clutch shaft (part no. 25) could be stuck in the up position. (they get rusty or just stuck sometimes) Or you could have a broken Plunger (part no. 17) its supposed to retract the spin cam when the lid switch opens. Anything is possible on a washing machine of this age.

Thanks That Guy, I will check that out this weekend. Got an additional question for you on a LST 9355A the agitator does not work like it use to. I found on this link where there is a repair kit (pn ap3138838) to repair the worn out parts. It says Whirlpool recommends putting agitator grease with this kit if no grease is present on the old thrust washer. Is there a substitute grease that I may use that I may have lying around the house?

I have used white lithium grease, just don't put too much on. you don't want that getting into your clothes.
