I had the same thing happening with my just bought used Whirlpoool . I googled the problem ,ended up here . I then saw the part I needed and found the same part in an Amana in the carport (Dont ask) .I got it out ,installed in about thirty minutes and am washing clothes now . So I registered in order to thank you .
Thanks again

Tracker,
You are welcome and thanks for the info, but seems like you did all the work so kudos to you.

I hope you are still receiving messages from this thread! I need help. My good ole reliable machine started to do this same thing today. It is a Sears Kenmore Heavy Duty 80 Series top load. Can you please tell me which part I will need. And will the previous link on how to take it apart apply to my machine also? Thanks

@Precioustohim
If you will post your model number and describe exactly what is happening with the machine we should be able to help you.
Thanks
