The end of cycle buzzer started buzzing during the end of cycle and wouldn't stop until the door was opened. Now, whenever the door is closed, (when there is any time on control timer), the dryer starts running by itself. No activation by the start button is required.

Hi Donny,

Most likely the problem with your dryer caused by the shorted start switch.

- The part number for the start switch is AP3097490

Replace the the push to start switch first. If this does not work then the or the motor relay is bad.The motor relay can be purchased @ Jameco Electronics for 1/3 the cost than sears.Jameco part #611928

Seems my Whirlpool dryer push to start relay/switch is jammed at close position. How do you replace push to start relay? Do I just pull the push to start knob off first? Any caution note? Do I need to order a push to start knob too or just order the switch/relay?
Thanks.

Unplug the dryer. Pull the knob off. Remove the control panel and the rear cover off the control panel. Pull the locking tab (on the right side on the picture) out and turn the switch CCW for about 90° to release it from slots. Remove the wires from the old switch (one wire at a time) and install them on the new one. Assemble in the reverse order.

Thanks for the instruction. I ordered and replaced the push to start switch dryer is working. :D I got a little confuse when I was dealing with the locking tab. I had a hard time to try to pull the locking tab out, then I realized I just need to pull it out enough to clear the hole in order for me to turn the switch CCW 90. It only took me less than 10 minutes to get the job done. Again, great instruction, great help. Thanks.:D
