Hello, I am trying to diagnose what the problem is with my cooktop in a newly purchased house. It is a GE cooktop model jgp636bed1bb. The problem is that one of the burners does not light up. Normally I have to turn the knob to "Lite" which starts the clicking and when the knob is turned further gas is introduced to produce a flame. The problem burner does not produce the clicking sound when the knob is turned to "Lite" on its control but the gas is introduced normally. So, I'm trying to figure out why this particular burner does not "click." I went to a local appliance shop and I was told that it could be the igniter, but I don't think that is the case because when I remove the igniters on all the burners, the working burners still "click" and the problem one does not. I am thinking that it is the spark switch for that particular burner that needs replacement but I'd like to get some feedback from you guys. Would this ( the harness switch for Model JGP636BED1BB ) do the job? Thanks in advance

When you turn the knob to ignite, does the other burners start to click? If so, Scratch the top of the ignitor to clean it up, if that does not work, remove the ignitor, and check the wire connected to it, you may be losing the spark underneath. Simple and free things to try before spending money. If the other burners click when you turn the knob in question, chances are the switch is fine, and doing the above should fix it, If none of the burners click when turning the questionable knob, the switch is bad

Each burner has its own knob. There are 5 burners and 5 knobs. 4 burners work and their knobs click but the fifth knob does not click.
What do I need to do to make the problem knob click?

No, the other burners don't click when the problem knob is turned.
Thanks for helping me out with this situation.

I would say it is your switch for that burner, if no other burners click when that knob is turned on, that is your problem

It looks like I have to replace all of the switches using the "harness switch" part #AP3784034. Thanks again for your input.
