Greetings,

My Whirlpool Gold refrigerator/freezer (model GD25DFXFW02) makes ice great, however it does not dispense it out the door. It does dispense water fine.

If I take the ice reservoir out of the freezer, depress the inside switch that lets the freezer know that the door is closed, and push the ice dispense lever, the paddle at the back of the freezer does turn. When I replace the ice reservoir and tried again I heard a sound like a motor working too hard (and indeed the dispensing crank doesn't seem to be moving.

So I removed all the ice from the reservoir, washed it out (to remove any frozen parts), let it dry for 4 hours and replaced it (still empty). Here it worked fine (the crank turns now).

So I filled the reservoir with ice again, and it dispensed a small amount of "test ice" fine. Two minutes later, my wife tried to put ice in her glass and nothing happened (needless to say, I got "the look").

Removing the reservoir again and emptying it I saw that there was ice jammed in the output crank, close to the door. I found it to be well lodged (maybe even frozen) in place. I replaced the reservoir and tried to "crush" the ice. No luck. After thawing for a bit I was able to get the ice out. I let dry (in front of a fan this time). Then wiped it out really well to make sure and put the empty reservoir back in the freezer. Works now (dispenser turns). I let it stay in the freezer (empty) to ensure the reservoir itself was cold, and replaced the ice. Works fine again (dispenses ice).

However, two hours later, the paddle at the back of the freezer no longer turns the crank in the ice reservoir, but when the reservoir is removed the paddle turns fine.

Can I assume that the motor has gone bad? If so, is this a replaceable part? Would it come with replacement instructions?

Thanks,
Daniel

I have similar problem with mine. Where do I begin? Makes ice, dispense water, but not ice. I don't hear no sound when I press the paddle. The auger couple doesn't turn with or without the ice bin. Please help.
