Hi,
I have an Amana smoothtop downdraft cooktop that developed a thermal crack within two years. Called the company last September (2007) and was told it was discontinued, but they would replace the top with comparable Whirlpool downdraft cooktop, since apparently Whirlpool now owns Amana. Finally, after five months and numerous calls to the company, I actually received the Whirlpool cooktop. Now I find out (from the third repairman I have had out) that he will need to change the venting, cut into the drawers beside the unit which is located in an island, and possibly also need to cut the partitions, these last two to be done by a carpenter (8 hours @ $35/hour for the carpenter only).

It would be SO much easier to just find someone who might have a white replacement Amana cooktop in a warehouse somewhere. Does ANYONE have any help?

Thanks.

June
