I noticed a few nights ago a loud "knock/bam" in the kitchen. I then heard the faint sound of water making contact with something very hot...a sizzle noise. I opened the freezer door and behind the bottom shelf, through a grating, I noticed an orange glow. The sizzle noise seemed to be coming from there. There was no odd smell or anything on that nature. For the past 3 days it's seemed fine, but last night it did the same thing.

What is the world is going on?
thanks - Ken
PS - we don't have a water line, so the ice maker is not functional.

That my friend, would be your defrost heater coming on to defrost the evaperator coils. Happens on average once every 24 hours and is completely normal
