Whirlpool electric front loading dryer model ler5634an0 seems like it's getting power as I can hear the timer ticking but will not turn on. Could someone tell me the best place to start trouble shooting. The belt is intact but all of a sudden it just stopped turning on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

On further checking the push button switch casing on the back is clear plastic and where the contact makes a connection when u push it down looks blackend. Is it possible for the start button to short out where it makes contact? Also is it possible to bypass the switch to see if it's what causing the dryer not to start?

It is possible to bypass the start switch, but do not do it. Put in a new
switch.

I understand that but I wanted to know if it could be bypassed just for testing purposes so that I know the switch is bad, don't want to spend money on a switch and shipping if it doesn't need replaced.

I understand your concern over spending money you don't need to (that's why we respond on this site, we want to save you the money of a service call and unneeded parts) but bypassing this switch can result in problems with the machine and there are safety issues even if you do it once just for testing. Since you do not list a model number I really cannot advise you on even how to do this.

If you order the part from this site (we are volunteers and not connected to the parts operations of APP) and it does not fix the problem you can return it, see the returns policy for details. Yes you will be out the cost of shipping, but that is not a big issue with the size of the part. Given your description I would advise you to put in a new switch even if that is not the cause of your difficulties.

Appreciate your response. Model number is in first line of my post. going to do a search on testing the thermal fuse since it seems like i'm not getting any power to the start switch, but am getting power to the timer, plus the door switch seems to be working cause the timer stops when the door is open.

Thanks again, I figured it out, was the thermal fuse. Bypassed it with a jumper wire and the dryer started @ least now I know what to order. I really appreciate all the information you guys have listed on here.
