OK it's been going on for 2 weeks ice maker is making good ice, but have water dripping from ice maker into bin. thus we have a solid piece of ice cubes. last nite had a salty looking substance on ice in back of bin, which was one big block. Have been getting the black specks in cubes too.
So what needs replaced?

The black specks are from your icemaker paint chiping off. If you live in an area with hard water, most likely that is your salty substance. The icemaker may be leaking because of a buildup of hard water minerals, or a seal on the icemaker has failed. I would take the icemaker out and clean it good, and see if you still get the water dripping.
