I have Matag top loading washer model LAT8435 and trying to replace the bearings and tub seals. Got the agitator off, got the outer tub disconnected from the frame and springs, got the nut holding the tub to the stem off(using channel locks) but am now stuck. The tub will not come up. It has little play but then seems to still have a nut ring between the bottom outside of the tub and the vrubber seal. I can barely see it from the top. There may even be a set screw somehere locking this in. Can someone tell me how to get the tub off at this point. I could trash the lower seal but that still wouldnt solve the problem when I need to replace and reassemble. Got bthis far-dont want to call a repairman now

This page should help Maytag Tub Seal Replacement

Once you have the mounting stem off and the bolts out the tub it should lift out. Sometimes it is hard to come off pull it up as hard as you can and press it back down. Keep working it up and down like that and it will come off.
