I have a washer that just took a dump on me. I started a load of laundry before I climbed in bed last night and when I woke up this morning the digital display showed there was still one minute left of the cycle. This is a front loading washer. I tried to cancel and the door lock engaged and would not allow me to open the door. So, I decided to restart the load and see what happened. It fills with water fine, then the timer begins counting down, but nothing else happens. I was able to get the door open (after unplugging it to reset it) and the drum inside turns fine. It is currently Sunday, and there are no repair services available until tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has any idea as to what may be wrong with this?? Would the problem be something that a casual do-it-yourselfer could fix it? Are the cost of repairs going to outweigh the cost of replacing it with a new unit with a warranty again?? Any ideas as to what the problem may be would be greatly appreciated. I have not opened up the back panel at this point.
Thanks a bunch!
