After my Maytag dishwasher's handle broke I replaced the entire latch assembly. Now the dishwasher is unable to detect that the door is open and won't pause when I open the door.
There are two small electronic(?) devices that clip onto the assembly and plug into the cables connecting the latch to the controller. I removed these while attempting to figure out how connect the new latch. (I was thinking that I would use the old devices because I was having problems unplugging them from the cables.) I finally succeeded in unplugging the old devices using pliers and a fair amount of brute force but then had difficulty getting the new ones firmly clipped back onto the latch. I reinstalled the latch without the devices firmly clipped onto it. Perhaps this is causing the problem.
Any experts out there who have some thoughts about this?
