Hi, I purchased replacement chute
AP3595356 (8201649) Door-chute

I took the front plate of my fridge apart last weekend and unscrewed wiring assembly to expose the ice dispenser chute; however, Removal and Replacement method was not obvious to me.

In addition, the replacement parts did not match the original parts.

I got scared and did not attempt replacement...

I checked with Appliancepartspros customer service for installation instructions. Their recommendation was for me to contract a service tech...

I would appreciate any help / confidence booster...

Thanks,
juanr

Hey JuanR, certainly understandable to be scared on halloween but not of a refrigerator... It is only a machine... I've seen some replacement parts that are different than the originals but usually they were adaptable... Go to http://www3.sears.com/ and input your model number... Search your model and you can find some pictorial diagrams of the parts breakdown... Hopefully this will help you figure out how to put your chute back together...

Here is the instructions sheet for the 8201649 Door chute kit you bought from us.

Let us know how it went... or if you need more help.

Admin, the original question was regarding the installation of the ChuteDoor. I have the same problem - a bunch of parts and no diagram on where to begin.

The first link you sent, I could search for the part number, but the product page has no instructions or diagrams. And the second link has diagrams for sections of the fridge, but the Dispenser Front and Freezer Door sections both show "Image Not Available." And the third link, to a pdf, is the same document that I received with my dispenser door parts, but unfortunately this document contains no instructions or diagrams for installation. I guess you didn't preview the document before you linked to it.

I don't suppose you'd have any other links or info regarding the installation of mfg part number : 8201649, Ice Dispenser Chute.

Thanks Chris

Well, it took some fiddling, but I was able to replace the parts. There were certainly a few steps where I almost broke the parts because I wasn't sure of the best way to take them apart or put them together. But my closer is closing now.

My closer spring was actually still good. I guess that my pneumatic closer assistant must have been sticking. I might have been able to just lube this pneumatic part to fix my problem.

I did this with the fridge on. If I have to do this again, next time I will lock out the control panel before I take the fridge apart and next time I won't order the $40 repair kit. I'll first lube the pneumatic closer and if that doesn't work, I'll try to just remove the pneumatic closer assistant.

I also purchased repair kit 8201649 but there are no instructions on how to remove the trim around the ice maker dispenser.
