I have replace the lower door seal orginal number is 9743542 replacement which I purchased is 4172127. The old seal is harder to put on and remove than the new one. The new seal actually comes off the door as the water hits it and I have to open dishwasher and push it back on or by rinse it is in the bottom of the tub. I look at the end of the parts and they have changed it. The gap where it clips to the bottom of the door is wider in the new part than the old, so won't clip on tight. I can not find the original part number listed anywhere that doesn't change to this new worthless part. I have tired glueing it on, but for some reason then it leaks right off.
Any suggestions? I don't want to buy a new dishwasher for a repair that runs under $25.

I concur with the above posts that part 4172127 is not an adequate replacement for part 9743542, the new part is loose and comes off easily. Any help with this is appreciated.

I also have the same problem and posted my plight last monday. For some reason my post has been removed and I have received no replies. Customer Service has offered no help. I am considering RTV silicone to adhere the seal but am afraid of the risk of muddling up the part and dishwasher.

What worked for me finally was the following. I gave up on using the new part. I took the old part out, cleaned it, cleaned the dishwasher at the hinge around the part, put the part back, and bent it downwards so that it holds better when the door is closed. It has been a week and so far I have no leak.

Thanks, I have kept the old part in case I could'nt find a solution. I will try that first, if it fails I will try the RTV with the new part. I have no leaking with the new part (did the cleaning of the machine when I did the repair), but I have to repositon it each wash or it will fall off and I assume it will then leak.

Is it safe to use the RTV clear silicone? Safe for for the dishwasher and for people eating off the clean dishware? Thanks you.

The product I used was packaged as a "Plumbers Sealant and Adhesive", it had no warning against use with potable water. It did have plenty of warninings regarding its uncured state so make sure you give it plenty of time to cure.

I used very, very little. Four tiny dabs in the groove of the door seal, spaced equally. Been 3 months and still holding.
