I have a Maytag MSD2351HEB side-by-side. Will be 3 years old in August. Have been having problems for the last year or year and half. First issues was the inside back of the freezer was frosting over and freezing up and ice would block the air flow to the fridge side. Replaced the defrost heater in March 2009. After that would still freeze up, but not quite as often. Replaced the adaptive defrost control in June 2009. Still would freeze up some, but again, not as often as before replacing adaptive defrost control. Noticed the back and coils were starting to frost pretty heavily yesterday, but not blocking the air flow to the fridge and fridge was not getting warmer. Defrosted freezer with hair dryer yesterday. Tonight, fridge is up to 50+ degrees and freezer is just above 0. The back is frosting up again, but checked air flow and it is not blocked. What next?? I really can not afford a new fridge. :(

I have not replaced the defrost thermostat yet, simply because I would have to cut the wires to get the old one off and not positive the best way to put the new one on considering the fact of mositure in the freezer. Wouldn't want to screw anything up. Is replacing the defrost thermostat what you would recommend? And if so, what is the best way to handle connecting the new wires to the old wires? Thanks in advance! ~Brandy

The new one comes with butt connectors to attach the wires, would be good to seal the ends with silicone cement.
